My Story

Charles McHarron.

He was born in 1848/50 in Halifax Nova Scotia Canada, he sailed into Liverpool met and married Emma Rowley our great great grandmother, they had 7 children together, his eldest son Charles was our great grandfather, his son Henry was our grandfather, We are the daughters of Henry’s middle son Harold a direct line from Charles, Henry’s eldest son Henry had no children of his own, so Harold’s children are next in the direct line.
After researching our family tree we discovered our great great grandfather Charles died tragically in his work place, Fawcett and Preston a foundry on York street Liverpool in 1890, he fell down a trap door broke his neck and died, he was 39/40 years old, there were suspicious circumstances but nothing was ever proven.
This is a sad story of the life of a young Canadian sailor, who settled in Liverpool.
Our research shows there are no records of birth in Canada at the time Charles was born, we have his marriage and death certificates with some information.
His Father Patrick McHarron was a seaman also.
We have researched back to 1785 were there was a Daniel McHarron one of the first settlers in Chester Canada. Our research is still ongoing.
There is evidence that the McHarron’s originated from Ireland.
Charles is the main person in the research of our history, we have recently found his resting place, an unmarked grave where he has lain for the last 118 years unrecognised, we thought it really important to give our great great grandfather some sort of memorial to say he was here and he will never be forgotten, we had a stone laid with his name and where he came from ect... He is our History, how we came to be..

Every life that ever was
And ever came to be
Touches the world in some small way
For all eternity
And like a single drop of rain
That on still waters fall
His life did ripples make
And touched the lives of us all
